What is QTC?

Queer Tamil Collective (QTC) is a registered non-profit secular organization that provides support, empowerment and advocacy for the Queer Tamil artists. Queer Tamils have been at the foreground of advocacy and activism in Canadian arts and culture for over three decades. Our resounding voice of intersectionality speaks to the violence that we continue to endure and our enduring resilience in being Queer and Tamil.

QTC serves Queer Trans Intersex Tamil Communities with priority given to Dalit and Muslim - Tamil queers.

QTC works within a FEMINIST ANTI-OPPRESSION, SECULAR, FRAMEWORK by implementing Trauma-Informed Approach.

Ensuring that anti-oppression is embedded in everything that QTC does by examining attitudes and actions through the lens of access, equity, and social justice.

A trauma informed approach is inclusive of trauma-specific interventions, whether assessment, treatment or recovery supports, yet it also incorporates key trauma principles into the organizational culture

QTC’s Collective Governance:

QTC operates under Collective governance which is an innovative model of governance that is solutions-oriented with a focus on public value, where diverse members can work in partnership to improve the organization’s management of public resources and delivery of services.
